# Background
Decisive but imaginative, pragmatic but relentlessly curious, I’ve spent the last two decades engineering systems focusing on performance. My work sits at the intersection of distributed systems, finance, and machine learning, with a persistent focus on scale and automation.
After completing a Bachelor of Information Systems (Honors), I served as a Captain in the Australian Regular Army before branching out on my own. In 2013, I founded [Flood IO](https://web.archive.org/web/20220823111111/https://www.flood.io/), a distributed load-testing platform designed for real-world scale. Flood was [acquired](https://web.archive.org/web/20221011032717/https://venturebeat.com/business/automated-software-testing-company-tricentis-acquires-load-testing-platform-flood-io/) by [Tricentis](https://tricentis.com/) in 2017, where I led product and engineering teams through rapid global growth.
Today, I continue to explore my interests in **high performance computing, finance, and applied machine learning**. From technical marketing at [ScyllaDB](https://www.scylladb.com/) to developing algorithmic trading pipelines under my own banner [Algolotl](https://algolotl.ai)...
## Experience
I bring operational depth across **military, government, telecommunications, and financial** domains along with growth stage experience in **education, software testing, healthcare, blockchain, and distributed database** scale ups.
My core strengths include designing and scaling systems, building automation pipelines that remove friction, and translating technology into measurable business outcomes.
Calm under pressure and driven by data, I focus on **performance, reliability, and security** at every layer of the stack. I’m relentless about connecting technologies in novel ways to achieve exceptional results - and never afraid to share a laugh with the team along the way.
Most of all, I 💖 building autonomous systems.
